Criminal Solicitors

The criminal Solicitors in the firm are the senior partner Simon Brown and associate Mr Colin McLaughlin.

Simon Brown has been practising criminal law for over 15 years and qualified as a Solicitor Advocate in 2006. This means that the firm can now deal personally with any criminal case from the Justice of the Peace Court to the High Court ensuring a continuity of representation and advice throughout. Also since 2009 Mr Brown has been appointed as a Peer Reviewer by the Scottish Legal Aid Board to monitor standards in other solicitors work.

Colin McLaughlin has a wealth of criminal experience in the local area having worked for top criminal firms, RA Logan & Co in Ayr and Allan Kerr, Solicitors in Kilmarnock before joining Matthew Brown Solicitors in June 2008. He has over ten years experience again exclusively in the field of criminal law.

Civil Soliticitors

The civil lawyers in the firm are Mrs Tracey Brown and associate Miss Carol McCluskey.

Mrs Tracey Brown has been a solicitor with this firm since 1998 and a partner since 2001. She is experienced in dealing with all Family Law matters, Conveyancing, Executries, Adults with Incapacity matters and Accident claims. She acts as an Independent Solicitor in the preparation of Bar Reports for the family court at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court and also tutors in Family Law on the Diploma in Legal Practice at the University of Glasgow.

Miss Carol McCluskey is an associate in the firm. She has worked with the firm since 2005 as both a trainee and qualified solicitor. Carol deals with all aspects of Family Law, Children's hearing work including referrals to the Sheriff Court and appeals from decisions of the children's panel and also with accident claims.

We also have an experienced paralegal Mrs Elaine Weaver who deals with Conveyancing, Executries and Adults with Incapacity matters.
